Language, Cultural & Communication Support

At Grace London, we want every patient to feel understood, respected and fully supported. People have different language needs, cultural backgrounds and communication preferences, and we make sure our care is accessible to everyone.

Whether your appointment is online, in our clinic, or in your home, we will work with you to provide information in a way that feels comfortable, clear and right for you.

01Language support

If English is not your preferred language, or you would like help understanding clinical information, we can arrange:

  • Professional medical interpreters
  • Video or telephone interpretation
  • Translated summaries or instructions, where available
  • Extra time during appointments
  • Plain-language explanations and written follow-up notes

We do not rely on family members for clinical interpretation unless you specifically request it.

02Cultural and religious considerations

We respect and accommodate:

  • Cultural or religious practices
  • Privacy and modesty needs
  • Fasting or dietary considerations
  • Gender preferences for clinicians, where possible
  • Cultural expectations around physical examination

Please tell us about any cultural or personal preferences before or during your appointment. We are here to support you.

03Communication needs and accessible information

If you have specific communication needs, such as hearing, visual or cognitive requirements, we can provide:

  • Written summaries
  • Visual aids
  • Clear, simple explanations
  • Information in accessible formats
  • Adjustments to appointment style or pace

Your communication preferences can be recorded so they are applied consistently across all future appointments.

04Digital accessibility

Many of our consultations take place online. To make digital care accessible, we offer:

  • Screen-reader friendly documents
  • Captioning options for online appointments
  • High-contrast or large-text formats
  • Accessible digital consent forms
  • Step-by-step guidance for joining online consultations
  • Alternative communication options, including telephone, email and written summaries

If you experience any digital barrier, let us know and we will find a format that works for you.

05Understanding and consent

We want you to feel confident in every decision about your care. We will always make sure:

  • You understand the information provided
  • You have the chance to ask questions
  • Any communication barriers are addressed before you give consent

06How to request support

If you would like language assistance, cultural support, or communication adjustments, please contact us. Where possible, let us know before your appointment so we can arrange it in advance.

We are committed to making your experience with Grace London inclusive, respectful and accessible.
